Role Overview
The Tree Officer will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining trees across various urban landscapes. This position requires a deep understanding of tree biology, ecology, and arboriculture practices. You will work closely with local governments, community organizations, and residents to foster a robust tree care program.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct tree assessments and health evaluations in public parks, streets, and other urban areas.
- Develop and implement tree management plans, including planting, pruning, and removal activities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to promote community tree planting initiatives and educational programs.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and best practices in tree care and management.
- Maintain accurate records of tree inventory, health assessments, and maintenance activities.
- Provide technical assistance and advice to city officials and community members regarding tree-related issues.
- Organize and lead community workshops and outreach programs focused on tree care and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications
To be a strong candidate for our Tree Officer jobs, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A degree in Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in urban forestry, arboriculture, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of tree species, maintenance practices, and pest management strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with varied audiences.
- Proficiency in GIS and tree inventory software is a plus.
- CERTIFIED ISA Arborist (or equivalent certification) preferred.
