Role Overview
As the milk farm manager, you will play a critical role in the operations of our dairy farm. You will lead a team of skilled workers, oversee daily farm activities, and ensure that our milk production meets the highest standards of quality. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the farm, from animal health and nutrition to herd management and compliance with health regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the overall operations of the dairy farm, ensuring efficient production and high-quality standards.
- Oversee daily milking routines and ensure proper herd management to maximize milk yield.
- Implement programs for animal health, nutrition, and welfare.
- Supervise and train farm staff in best practices for milk production and animal care.
- Develop and monitor the farm’s budget, manage supplies, and oversee purchasing of feed and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations as well as organic and animal welfare standards.
- Analyze production data and maintain records to improve operational efficiency.
- Implement sustainable farming practices to reduce environmental impact.
- Coordinate with veterinary staff to ensure the health and welfare of the herd.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork among staff.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in dairy farming or agricultural management.
- Strong knowledge of dairy farming practices, herd health, and animal welfare standards.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and perform equipment maintenance as needed.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance in dairy farming.
- Computer proficiency and familiarity with farm management software.
