Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Piggery Manager to oversee our pig farming operations. This role is vital in ensuring that our pigs are raised in a humane and productive environment. As a Piggery Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of pig production, from breeding to marketing, while managing a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the piggery, ensuring optimal care and husbandry of the pigs.
• Develop and implement breeding programs to maximize productivity and profitability.
• Monitor animal health and wellbeing, conducting regular health checks and coordinating veterinary care.
• Oversee feeding programs, ensuring nutritional needs are met for all growth stages.
• Maintain accurate records of pig production, movements, health, and feed management.
• Implement biosecurity measures and ensure compliance with local regulations and standards.
• Manage team performance and provide training to staff on best practices in pig husbandry.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to promote farm products and develop new market opportunities.
• Participate in budget planning and financial management of the piggery operations.
• Research and implement new technologies and sustainable practices to improve farm efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pig farming operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Strong understanding of animal husbandry, health management, and pig production techniques.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and farm management software.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively.
